Attention to detail
The Newman is the first hotel from Kinsfolk & Co, a London-based hospitality management company founded in 2023 with a long-term, conscientious approach to growth. The architectural interiors are led by Pernille Lind and Richy Almond of Lind + Almond, whose work is known for its worldly eclecticism and attention to detail, drawing design elements and atmospheric ambience from Copenhagen.
“Creating the right atmosphere for The Newman meant finding an acoustic solution that performed organically with our architectural vision. We specified the Armourcoat Acoustic Plaster system for its ability to perfectly marry acoustic control with high-end aesthetics. It allowed us to cultivate a beautifully calm, inviting environment for guests, while giving us the ultimate flexibility of bespoke RAL color matching to suit the hotel’s sophisticated palette.”

Bespoke design details
With a design concept inspired by and deeply rooted in the charm and character of Fitzrovia, the hotel delivers an elegant, historical ambience, underpinned by a timeless Art Deco aesthetic that evokes the bohemian spirit of the surrounding area. Specified in harmonious mineral tones, Lind + Almond have paid close attention to utilizing bespoke details throughout, with Armourcoat’s Acoustic Plaster helping to deliver an elegant, intimate ambience influenced by the rich history and vibrant character of Fitzrovia.
Armourcoat’s customizable Acoustic Plaster is applied to high-level wall and ceiling surfaces, including curved and vaulted architectural details, blending seamlessly with the Art Deco design features used across the distinctive interiors. To achieve this unique application, pre-coated panels are installed on-site by Armourcoat’s skilled applicators, after which a unifying acoustic plaster undercoat is applied over the entire surface. Once dry, the system is hand-finished with a natural marble-based acoustic topcoat plaster in the specified color and finish, resulting in a seamless, elegant surface with outstanding acoustic performance.
“The space itself presented a genuine design challenge, featuring complex sweeping curved ceilings. The Armourcoat team was instrumental in turning this concept into actuality. They brought a real sense of craftsmanship to the table, conducting extensive trials to guarantee a seamless finish across these difficult geometries. Their hands-on technical support and collaborative approach throughout the entire process resulted in a beautifully executed finish that perfectly matches the premium standards of the Newman.”
